While the history of quilting is fraught with many examples of possible origins relationship again so far as biblical times with the story of Josephs ‘Coat of Many Colours’, it is generally agreed that the extra traditional American/European had it’s start with the patchwork quilts within the 1780’s. Patchwork quilts in essence had been quilting for the beginner, in that scraps of fabric had been sewn together to offer clothing and blankets as a matter of shortage and necessity.
